Transfer ultraviolet digital copy dvd to iTunes, not Flixster?

Got Horrible Bosses on Blu-Ray and instead of a digital copy that downloads automatically to iTunes, they have this new "ultraviolet" digital copy that only downloads to some stupid thing called Flixster Collections, which basically tries to be like iTunes for movies, but is way ******** and less convenient.

ANYWAY, the point is, I want to watch it on iTunes. Is there a way to do it? --- I'm pretty worried the answer is no, since I googled it and came back with nothing, but I thought I'd ask ----

Dear valued customer,

To resolve your UltravioletTM Digital Copy request, we will mail you a Digital Copy disc that includes an iTunes compatible file for PCs and Macs as well as a Windows Media@ file for Windows-based PCs. Please respond to this email with your name and physical mailing address. The expected delivery time frame is 2-3 weeks from the time we receive your mailing address.
Thank you for contacting UltraViolet Digital Copy Customer Support.

So, I gave them my address, and mention why not just sending me the Itunes code, instead of waisting a DVD and shipping...

Now I have to wait another 2-3 weeks..

I'm sorry you'll have to wait that does seem like a waist both of resources and time. but I'm glad to hear there was some kind of good from it (if nothing else, they learned that another person is not satisfied with their offerings) part of what seems crazy to me is that they will still have to give you a redemption code anyways.

as with the other posting's here i have received the same response from flixster and warner i am currently waiting for crazy stupid love horrible bosses and green lantern digital copy disc's that they have said they will send but even funnier is that warner bros specifically states on the back of the slipcovers on the bluray packaging that neither warner bros entertainment or any affiliates is responsible for maintaining the uv digital copy service but when you complain about it wb is clearly written in the fields so bs on their part

i also believe that wb will continue with uv digital copy but as long as their are people complaining about it they will either send digital copy discs or give itunes redemtion codes purely for the sole purpose of irritating those of us who use the largest and convienent media library which is itunes

I was able to get a code from WB for Dolphin Tale, although it was the one where they're mailing me a physical disc as talked about above. Like I care about physical media for a download. There's an environment waster.

Sony, however gave me the middle finger in the same request for the Smurfs.

When I hear of all these hassels and troubles it is no wonder that people turn to illegal downloads and ripping their own movie collection. Even when you are an honest pay customer you get treated like this, I can compleatly understand why people feel justified in using those otehr methods. It's not that they want to be "pirates" or law breakers, they simply don't feel that they are getting what they paid for and I agree we aren't really getting what we want or paid for. When the studios learn to give people what they want, how they want it, and what/how they feel they paid for, then I think we'll see a lot of these other "alternative" methods of aquiring digital copies fade away. It's almost like the studios want to push people to these "alternative" methods. At least (for now) we can still get codes, or disks sent, but I have a feeling that they wont keep that up forever...

That's the whole problem. I don't want to use another program called Flixter and use more logins. I want to manage my movies myself, like I always did.. Guess with this, I will stop buying movies that is labeled "Ultraviolet" and buy a Itunes copy .. Now I understand why so many people are hating "Ultraviolet"

pka4916,

Just curious as to how you submitted your request for a digial copy redemption code? I ask because about two or three days ago I followed instructions provided earlier in this thread and was able to get WB to send me an iTunes redemption code for Harry Potter 7 part 2. The only complaint I have about the process was that it took about 12 hours to get the code, but that really didn't bother me (to be honest). I'm sorry that they are giving you the run around, and making you wait for a physical copy. If it helps, here's the process I used:

1. Logged on to: http://support.ultraviolet.flixster.com

2. Selected "Request Support" and clicked on "Submit a Ticket"

3. In the ticket description area I filled out the information with a summary and comment indicating that I couldn't redeem my code in iTunes

4. Selected the "Issue Type" as "Offer Redepmtion"

5. Selected the applicable title

6. Filled in my UV redemption code

7. Rated my UV experience as "Poor"

8. Filled out the rest of the questions and hit submit.

About 12 hours later I got the following email:

Hello ,

It's important to us that you are fully satisfied with your purchase. We are issuing you a new code for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2: XXXXXXXXXXXX

To redeem your code, please follow these instructions:

  • Go to http://www.wbdigitalcopy.com/harrypotter7part2/ca.
  • You will be able to select which type of file you wish to download -- Windows Media or iTunes. Follow the instructions for the type of media you choose.
  • Download and launch the executable file.
  • Enter your redemption code.

Thank you for contacting UltraViolet Digital Copy Customer Support.

When I downloaded HP7P2 the software did not give me the option to download on iTunes, Quicktime, or Windows. I think it downloaded in Quicktime. I used the itunes code that I requested from flixster. Please be careful before downloading so that you select the correct download option. Yes I agree with everyone that this is poor software and web site.

Dec 30, 2011 3:37 PM in response to warrenb14

I folowed those instructions as well, and the only answer I got back it that I will get a copy in 2-3 weeks in the mail.

And for the Smurfs, I got the answer which basicly says "It's your problem, not ours.. if you don't want to use

extra programs in order to watch the movie"..

So I will NEVER buy anything from Sony anymore.

I got this one back.. Tried the code in Itunes, but did not work.. Got a message to insert the Digital Disc in my drive... So I guess I need to wait, till I receive the disc, and then use it with Itunes.

Pka4916

How long has it been since ur original complaint to flixster when they said they would mail you ur digital copy disc?

I also received the same message from them for 3 different movies and I was wondering how they plan to deal with the code redemption once I receive my disc in the mail I wonder if the code will be on the disc or they will send me a paper with the code or will they email it? It's just so unnecessary and stupid that Warner chooses to play games and lose customers by making potentially industry altering mistakes seeing as though they've ****** off half the consumer fan base

Dec 30, 2011 8:58 PM in response to samuel_271

I've gotten several messages.

1. For Final Destination 5

1st e-mail within 1 hour

2 followup emails, and finally a message, that it was going to receive a disc in the mail in about 2-3 weeks

today i got an e-mail that said 1-2 weeks, and the code was also in that e-mail.

2. Smurfs

1e email within 10 minutes, that I pretty much was out of luck.

responded back to them, and no comment ever since..

Now for 1 it's WB, and for 2 it's Sony.

So, Sony basicly tells me that it's my own fault, I should have done my research.. So f. them I guess.

This is the whole e-mail for Final Destination

Dec 30, 2011 9:37 PM in response to avb25

I was wondering how long it has taken people to get a response after submitting a "ticket"? I sent my first message on the 27th and never got a response back so I sent another message yesterday and still have not heard back! This is getting to be a real pain! I thought maybe it was because I was asking for multiple codes, but I have read that other people have as well and have heard back. I also thought that after I submitted the ticket that it said I would get a confirmation email...I never got one and not sure if i read that wrong.

Dec 30, 2011 10:49 PM in response to avb25

Alright, so I haven't tried contacting anyone on behalf of Deathly Hallows Part 2, and I'm honestly considering pitching a fit about any and all UV downloads I can get (Like One Tree Hill has UV. Do I need Season 8 in iTunes when I don't have 1-7? No. Will I kick and scream as though my life is dependant upon being able to store them on my iProducts? Absolutely). However, what I would like to bring to the discussion is a question of logistics:

So I get how for some people being able to stream their video collection is beneficial as it would allow them access to more their titles without forethought, even though there's an app for that. The thing is though, did absolutely NO ONE think about the fact that one service provider ended unlimited data, another has unlimited but isn't as fast, another is Sprint who think it's better to invest in Nascar versus service or customer support, and lastly remember that time T-Mobile sidekicks lost service for literally MONTHS, when service returned most users lost all their contacts and personal info, and T-Mobile thought the best way to make up for it was to send out VISA gift cards they never had activated? Did anyone think of that??? What about the fact that constant streaming kills the battery? I mean, if I fall asleep with my iPhone on Pandora I'll need to recharge it when I wake up. Does that also not matter? Or how about the fact most iPads purchased are wi-fi only? Maybe I wanna watch Harry Potter in the backseat while my parents drive thru the sticks to my aunt's house???

Ok, so done with the sarcasm, but I'm serious about the points. While it may be beneficial to some to have access to entire collections without having to put them all on their device, the commercials make it seem as though you can choose, which we can't, and that's actually putting a lot of us out.

For the person who was pretty much told by Sony it's their own fault for not doing research, maybe you should respond telling them A) it's not like you can buy a blu-ray with the option of standard digital copy B) even if you could you wouldn't be able to tell the difference as the blu-ray case labeling for both is identical C) the addition of digital copies has been pretty standard in blu-ray combo packs, since they began being sold so this is in no way on you, and D) it's not like you can buy a blu-ray now without getting UV. Therefore, it is entirely on them to give you what you paid for and expected, and maybe they should keep this in mind before considering adding UV to any more of their titles.
