iPad, iOS 5
Launch the Contacts app, tap on the contact that you want to delete, tap EDIT at the bottom of the window, swipe up to get to the bottom of the window and tap Delete Contact.
Since the IOS 5 upgrade there is no add, delete and edit button for the ipad2. I checked with a friend and he doesn't have it either. It is there for the Iphone but not the IPad2....
@charlbeau ...the function is still there. I have the iPad 1 and I updated to iOS 5 as well. I still have the function on my Contacts App. I have read where quite a few users are saying what you are saying - the function is gone - it is not.
This is my opinion - and I am an extremely loyal Apple customer and a big fan of all of their amazing devices - this iOS update has been a minor disaster as far as I am concerned.
I know others will strongly disagree with me - and I realize that many users have had great success with the update - but I'm hoping for a relatively quick iOS update from Apple to fix some of the "minor" bugs that are spoiling my iPad experience.
Demo, i saw where you answered me, so where is it? I have tapped, turned, scrolled, and done everything I can to find it. I think it is a glitch with the IPad2....
But I still love my pad and phone...
I don't know if this will work with you too... well, I was experiencing the same problem. The edit tab for the contacts and calendar app was gone after updating to iOS 5. i kind of experimented the iCloud option in the setttings. Turn the icloud setting on for both the contacts and calendar. Then turn off afterwards. There are some prompts that popped out. When I turned it on, it will asked to merge or not. I answered "Merge". After turnig it off, it will ask keep in ipad or not. I chose keep in ipad to be safe. So, I went back to contacts, the edit and add button was back. hope this was helpful
Didn't see your reply until today.
charlbeau - you are not the only user to experience this. Others have reported the same thing. I have my own issue with the contacts app where I can no longer "title" additional email addresses for new contacts. I can add more emails but I can't select a custom title anymore.
I was just letting you know that the feature does still exist. However, I've read that the feature to custom title additional email addresses is still there but it doesn't work for me.
See ronald241672's post. Maybe that will work. I wish I had the answer to both issues!

Holy cow, this is exactly the mystery I was having too. Within only a couple of button clicks, I was able to find the work around from your post. Thanks a bizillion!
