Not getting Facebook notifications with iPhone 4s

I received my phone friday from Verizon (not sure if that matters or not) and have been trying to get facebook notifications to work since. I've gone through all the settings, I've ensured everything is correct, turned on badge app icons as well. I had someone send me messages and comments and I didn't receive anything in my notification center. I uninstalled then reinstalled and tried everything all over again, still no luck. It's not a deal breaker not having facebook show up in notifications, but it's frustrating to say the least. Is anyone else having this problem, or has anyone received a solution? I'm to the point now where I'm wondering if I should call or take my phone in.
