How do i get my sons 4th Ipod Shuffle to stop shuffling and what did he do to make it shuffle??

My son came home from his nannies and told me i had to take all 248 songs off his 4th Gen. Shuffle and put them back on because it was shuffling and he can't listen to the songs in order anymore and that half of his songs aren't playing.. How do i correct this problem without having to take all the songs off and put them all back on please?? 😕 I plugged it in my computer and all the songs are still on the player...
