iCloud syncing Weather and Stocks settings

We are a family with multiple iPhones and have all upgraded to iOS5 and iCloud syncing. We have come across one odd thing, our phones now have a combination of the Stocks and Weather settings from all the phones. How can we de-couple these as we like having our individual settings?

gpb_1,

The reason why everything is syncing to all phones is because you're using the same iCloud account for each phone. Each phone should really have it's own iCloud account to eliminate duplication like this.

The whole idea of iCloud is to sync an account's information to all devices under that account. For example, I have an iPhone 4, Macbook Pro and Mac Mini. All of these are synced under my iCloud account. My wife has her own iCloud account and none of her information syncs with my account and visa versa.

EDITED: I may be mistakened on the Stocks and Weather settings. I'm not sure about those since they're not in the iCloud list on the phone.

The main reason we share one icloud account is to share and sync our calendars across our macs and iphones. This worked perfectly well under MobileMe for us and this weird Weather and Stocks behaviour has only occurred since migrating to iCloud.

I have checked all the iCloud syncing settings, plus googled it, and can't find any reference to why iCloud might be consolidating all our Stocks and Weather locations across all our iphones but it is. Its just annoying really.

Actually that doesnt help at all.

The issue is nothing to do with using seperate accounts for iTunes and iCloud - we already do that. The issue is that in order to have our calendars synced across our iphones we use the same iCloud account - it's pretty much all we want iCloud to do for us right now. BUT iCloud appears to be messing with our Weather and Stocks apps, pulling all of our individual settings for these apps and consolidating them on all our phones. I can find no reference to this functionality in iCloud anywhere and not setting to stop it happening.

I have experience the same thing and I use two different iCloud IDs for syncing. Both iPhones in our family have upgraded to iOS 5 and use the same original iCloud ID for Find My iPhone (required to use that feature)--so both have the same email used in the iCloud Settings panel.

Additionally, we've both created a new unique iCould IDs for syncing Contacts, Calendars and Reminders. These are added to the Mail, Contacts, Calendars Seetings panel and works perfectly--we have independent synced content for those apps.

However, I also just discovered that both Weather locations and stocks are shared across both phones so it must be connected to first (iCloud) ID. I cannot find any place to turn on/off or adjust sharing of those either...

Hi All, this worked for me.

In your iPhone/iPad, go to Settings > Privacy > Calendars ... check which Apps are accessing your Calendar - for e.g. if you use an AccuWeather app, when you first installed it, it would have asked for access to your Calendar ... if the the button is switched to "On" ... the weather app will post the temperatures (Min/Max) of the day in your Calendar.

- As the data appears in your Calendar, it's likely going to be replicated to everyone else's Calendar that you share an iCloud account with.

> Switching off the button in the Weather app, no temperatures appear in my Calendar.

- Do the same with the Stock app, switch the button to "Off", so it cannot access your Calendar/Contacts.

> In your iPhone/iPad, go to Settings > Privacy > Contacts ... check which Apps are accessing your Contacts ... turn off the ones you do no want the data fed into your Contacts.

Hope that helps.

I have this now on my family's iPhone 6's. What is weird is that my phone and my son's sync the stock and weather apps but my wife's phone does not sync to either of ours. As far as I can tell all our settings are the same. We are on the same iCloud account. This is all fairly recent so something changed to trigger the phones to sync.

BTW....we have had iPhones since our 4/4S's and never had a sync issue like this before.

Can anybody help?

Having not found any fix for this problem I started an online chat session with Apple tech support this morning. The solution provided, which did not work, was as follows:

Settings / Privacy / Location Services / Share My Location ... Turn off Share My Location or, I think, change the "From" device to something other than the phone currently being sync'd with. I tried both to no avail, turning off Share My Location and also changed the From to "This Device" and away from the phone with erroneous sync'ing of weather and stocks app.

Still no solution. If I can find the case # Apple provided for the chat session I'll start another one I guess.

If anybody figures this out please share.
