iMessage No Text Tone on iPad

Just upgraded my iPad 1 and iPhone 3GS to iOS5. I'm able to send messages from my iPhone to my iPad and they appear via notification, but I never get a sound (text tone). I've searched the discussion groups.. Have found some folks that have had problems getting custom text tones to work and have resolved their problem by turning iMessage off, changing the tone, then turning iMessage back on. This doesn't work for me.. I've been to the following places to look for how I might get the text tones to appear:

General/Sounds/TextTone

Notifications/Messages/

Any other ideas? Thanks

Update: I reset my settings (Settings/General/Reset All Settings).. Text Tone still does not sound. Next I completely reset my iPad back to factory settings (Settings/General/Erase All Content and Settings) Still doesn't give me a Text Tone when receiving an iMessage. Not sure what else to do, except take it to a Genius..

Final Update: Found the problem! Noticed that I was not able to hear unlock and lock sounds either. Found another report of those upgrading to iOS5 that had their Side Switch set to Mute in the process of upgrading and could not hear their lock/unlock sound. This was the problem all along. Unmuted and all if fine (of course..) So, to any having this problem after upgrading to iOS5, check the Side Switch setting. It was probably reset to Mute when you upgraded.
