Profiles not pushing over cell data

I've got a Lion server (10.7.2) running from my home with a static IP address, etc. I'm able to connect to my system to download email etc. I've gotten all my computers and iOS devices installed through Profile Manager successfully. Things seem to be working pretty nicely on my local network for the iOS devices.

I just disabled WiFi on both my iPad and iPhone (running iOS 5) and attempted to have Profile Manger "update info" on each of the devices. Basically the update never occurs. I waited about 20 minutes. As soon as I connected to my WiFi network things worked almost instantly.

Any suggestions? I suspect this means I would not be able to lock or wipe either device (maybe even a laptop) if I'm not on my local network.
