Disable "Notification Center"

I want to disable "Notification Center" entirely. Please tell me how to make it go away. I have opted to have all notifications off in the notification center but a blank grey page still comes down when I pull down from the top of the screen.

Cheers!

I'm right there with you, I want to disable notification center entirely and it's intruding into everything I do on my phone.... and I can't disable it, which is just plain stupid. iOs 5 ***** so much on so many different levels I can't even fathom the stupid choices that went into making it the way it is. I'm developing an app for the iphone so I can't revert back to iOs 4, but honestly, if things stay the way they are, I'll never buy another apple product, nor will my clients.

Edit: LOL, they bleep out "*****", that's hillarious. Might as well just bleep out anything negative AT ALL. Or anything in all caps, why not.

I also despise notification center. I bought an ipad, and my children loved it so much that I ended up getting them each ipod touch. Everything was great until IOS 5. Notification center interferes with so many apps, and I can't get rid of it. It may be an improvement for some people in some situations. For the rest of us it's annoying. Please add the ability to disable or remove notification center.

The procedure posted below by luksona7 worked for my iPad3. It's a miracle, as the fricking notifications tray kept showing up when I was doing ordinary graphics work on that side of the screen. Super annoying not to be able to turn it off when using the full touchscreen for basic tasks like this. What a glitch! Anyway, I followed the YouTube video instructions -- had to try it twice -- and it worked for me. Hate that tray!
