Music won't play on iPhone!
says it's playing, but track bar not moving and nothing's playing. Sometimes it will play the NEXT song while still on the wrong display. But mostly it won't play anything. Any suggestions?
iPhone 4, iOS 5, 4s

Hi,
Have you tried a hard reset? Hold the Home button & the sleep/wake button until the phone switches off & you see the Apple Logo...when you do, let go of the buttons & wait for your phone to start up.
Ben
I connected to iTunes, unchecked "Sync music", then ran a sync. Then re-checked the "Sync music" tab and ran the sync again. For whatever reason, this fixed my problem and my music, for now, seems to be working properly.
That worked perfect! Your a genius!
Where is the "Sync Music" tab located?
worked a treat, thank you
When you connect your iPhone/iPod to iTunes via USB, select your device from the left side of the screen in iTunes. Once selected, you should see the device "summary" page. Look at the tabs along the top of that screen. Select the music tab, "un-check" the "sync music" box. Then select "sync"/"apply changes". After the sync is complete, within the music tab, check the "sync music" box again and then select "sync" again. Once that's finished, it SHOULD work fine.
Try the hard restart first - could save you hours...
I have tried a hard reset and the sync and unsync in iTunes and still a good chunk of my music will not play. The main trend i have noticed is all music i have purchased on iTunes since i've had the 4S plays but all the ones i bought when i had a 3GS won't!! Can anyone help?
Oh and since i re-synced the songs that wouldnt play before have now entirely disappeared, even though on iTunes under the iPhone the songs are all there, but on the device itself, they are gone. All very odd!!
I tried what you recommended about un-syncing and re-syncing and viola!!!! it worked...Thanks,
If I do the unchecking/checking "sync" in itunes, is there a risk that itunes might try to sync any other data from the phone (calendar, contacts, etc) ? Or it only affects music? I only use icloud as a back up for the iphone and I wouldn't like to mix up backups or start having duplicates...
