i purchased the ios3.0 it shows error code8288

I purchased today and have the same error, looks like this has been going on for a while; I will check my balance because they should remove it from iTunes if its not working instead of taking my money knowing its not working.

Found this thread after getting the same error. This has now been broken for at least 10 days now and looks like other users are not getting the support they need.

Requested and got my money back but doesnt help with the apps I want, I think I will try booting up in safe mode and see if that works as it seems that some issues are resolved by stoping virus checkers etc. will let you know how i get on, wont be today though

Apparently, there is a problem with this update and iTunes 10.5. One workaround is to downgrade to iTunes 10.3, then install the update. This worked for me.
