Why won't movies or TV shows play on my computer?

When I try to play movies or TV shows on my computer through iTunes that I purchased off of iTunes nothing happens. I click on "play movie" and it doesn't seem to do anything. My computer is authorized and I have Windows 7 and the latest version of iTunes. Why are videos not playing? Also, some TV shows will not sync to my iPod touch or iPad 2. It say that they cannot be played on the device but I am not sure why. Can someone please help?
