Hey guys,


I need help on my iPhone 3Gs. After getting the iOS5, it keeps losing signal. When I say losing signal, every 5 seconds it finds signal, then changes to "Searching" then 2 seconds after changes to "No Signal" then two more seconds after "Searching" again then it finds signal and keeps it for 5 seconds at max then repeats the cycle. I have not dropped my phone or damaged it in anyway, it just started happening a day after i recently updated. It's not also where I am because all my friends with either iPhone 4S all the way to iPhone 3G constantly keep their signal at atleast 3 bars.

    I'm having excactly the same problem! I've replaced my sim already and restored it a dozen times with no result. Can't use my phone for a week now! Is there any fix out there?

    Hi... Even i am having the same issue with 3gs since upgrade ios 5, Kindly help,  At least tell me the way to downgrade ios 5 to ios 4.3. or some thing. ..

    I am having the same issue with my iphone 4. I have wasted many hours of my day trying to solve this issue by restoring to factory settings several times and scouring the internet for an answer.


    Apple need to address this widespread issue immediately and recognise the impact it is having on many peoples daily lives. It is totally unacceptable.

    Guys I fixed it. I went to the Genius Bar at the apple store and they restored it to some different setting, still iOS5 and now it works even when i restored from backup when i got home. Good luck with your guyses phone.

    They probably used what is refered to as a DFU restore. To do this yourself you must plug the phone into the computer while on. Hold the sleep button for 3s, then hold both the home and the sleep button for 10s, then release the sleep button and hold only the home button untill the phone apears in itunes as a device in recovery mode. If done correctly the iPhone display will remain off once the device has connected. Proceed to restore.

    I went into the apple shop today and described the issue. The first question the guy asked was: are you on orange? To which I replied yes! I am apparently the 8th person he has seen this weekend.


    I described how it seemed to have happened straight after I downloaded IOS 5 however he said he thought this was just a coincidence. I also told him how I had restored as a new phone several times but it had made no difference.


    My phone has a stuck homepage button and he said he could replace my phone based on this as I still had warranty. The new version would have the latest IOS 4 on it and not 5.


    Lo and behold a brand new phone WITHOUT IOS 5 still has exactly the same problems. So it must be orange! I'm just lucky I was able to get to the bottom of it.


    Next stop - the orange shop.

    I have this problem. When I spoke to some at O2 UK, they said that I had to keep turning my phone off then on again for it to reset the signal. I do this and the signal keeps up for a while but then dies out again. I am out of warranty, but this has occurred straight after iOS5 being installed.

    having the exact same problem, but in Canada. so I think it's an OS problem... the phone works when i switch the 3G off but data is extremely slow when you're not on the 3G network. I'm going to try the DFU restore as andrew from kamloops suggested

    the DFU restore seems to have worked. calls to apple, a visit to the Genius Bar, calls to Rogers and 2 visits to the rogers store didn't help, but your advice did.

    I tried the DFU restore and it worked for a few hours. But then i lost service again. I'm on orange (AT) btw...

    Yeah I woke up this morning and the phone was back to not getting a 3G signal... so frustrating. I don't get why it works on the O network or the E one but not 3G. it can't be a hardware problem, it has to be the OS.


    I'm goint to try the DFU restore again and install an older iOS ... wish me luck

    of course apple won't let me install an older OS ....... so frustrated right now
