Double Notifications in iOS 5 (Facebook app)

I'm slightly annoyed at this moment....

After installing iOS 5 a few days ago,meverything seemed to be working as advertised. However a problem child reared it's ugly little head. NOTIFICATIONS!!! Suffice it said that subject line says it all.

Whenever I get an email, or a fb msg, or some other notification, it comes in twice...one right after the other. I never had this issue with my 4 previous iPhones or even this iPad2, until iOS 5!!! IOS 5 loads up and BAM!!! Double notifications for everything!!!

So that we're clear about the step I've taken resolve this issue:

1.) uninstalled iOS 5, twice...clean install, twice...same issue. Not a back up, and restore...nope, a clean reset.

2.) tuned off all notifications for all apps, turned back on just fb and mail...same results.

3.) iPad2 on/off multiple times, no change before or after.

Anyone????

It really shouldn't be as hard to work out as it is. But it seems you and I are not alone. Go into 'settings' then open 'Facebook' and select notifications. Turn them all off and the duplication stops.

gosh I wish it were THAT simple. But alas its not.

Because if it were that simple...I'd have marked your solution, which I arrived at days ago, as right on the money! In fact, I wouldn't have posted here at all dude.

Let's try this one more time, shall we ?

facebook, mail, and every other app that has been removed from notification center, STILL reports every entry TWICE....

So let's say that a friend leaves a message on my wall on facebook, the ipad receives that notification and then displays it TWICE as an alert badge, and a sound!

Anyone ?

Well aren't you a rude little so and so.

What I suggested was that you check the settings in the Application, not in the notification centre. It would seem that since iOS 5s revamp of the notification centre you have much more control of app notifications from within the notification centre rather then simply an On/Off switch per app as was in the past.

As most apps have not had things changed around I suspect this is the cause because the FB aaplication still has notifications turned on as well as the notification centre. As soon as I turned off the notifications in the Application (not notification centre), the duplicates IMMEDIATELY stoped.

But of course I have no idea what I am talking about because you've tried that... maybe go back to iOS 4.

My apologies for being a 'rude so and so', however, if you had already tried what you suggested 16 times and some yahoo (no offense kind sir/madame intended), you'd be a tad surley as well...frustrated really.

No matter, as I indicated, I'd already done this...IN THE APPLICATION! And they're STILL coming!

I was having the same problem as you, Miles, with texts on my iphone after upgrading to iOS 5. Then I checked the settings under Notifications, Messages, called repeat alert. Apparently mine was automatically set to repeat the whole notification alert two minutes after it was received. I turned that off, and so far, it hasn't happened again. Maybe this could be the cause?

I have the same problem. Turn View in Lock Screen to "off" and this will goes away. But now you have to go through more steps to see the notifications.
