What is "Other" on the iPad's Storage (iOS 5)?

User uploaded file

After upgrading to iOS 5, I'm seeing multiple gigabytes being taking up by what is qualified as "other." What exactly is this? I am not carrying any music, movies, books, photos, etc on my iPad 2 (32GB WiFi + 3G). Anyone have any idea what is in this "other" category and how to remove it?

If I restore, does this wipe all the apps, etc, and I have to reload? I don't want to loose data from a couple of games I have on my iPad. ...

First Try a Restore from Backup... But... if the Large Other Persists, that is an Indicator of Corrupt Data in the Backup... Then a Restore as New is the way to go...

Alright this problem occured when I was syncing my digital copies. What happened was, during the sync I saw a movie I had forgot to check. After I checked and hit sync (This is happening during a sync in progress.). It asked me do you want to restart the sync, and I said yes. After I did this I ran out of space when I should of had 15 gigabytes to spare. What im guessing is that iTunes and the device maybee create a temp file but doesn't delete it in error or some other anomaly. So I took off all 28 digital copies synced it without movies. Then I restarted it from the adviced given before in this forum (By the way thanks alot Apple user blue44). Low and behold fixed wallah. Now just waiting on the movies to resync. I would try this method before restoring of any kind worked perfectly for me.

Hope this helps.
