Should iPhone still be backing up to iTunes after iCloud backup is enabled?

Once I connected my new iPhone 4S to my iTunes and restored my backup I enabled backup in the cloud.

However, there are two issues I was wondering if other people were experiencing?

Issues:-

1) The iCloud backup clearly states that when your iPhone is connected to a power source, wireless and is locked an automatic backup would take place. My phone is connected to all three in the evening, but it will not backup unless I force the backup myself?

2) Even though the iPhone is set for iCloud backup in both iTunes and on my iPhone 4S, when I do connect my iPhone to a power source, wireless and is locked it still backs appears to communicate to iTunes. It does not appear to backup, but copies genius information, and other music information to and from the iPhone? Is this normal behaviour?

Many Thanks to anyone who can advise or help?
