iPhone 4S drops 3G, have to restart phone to get it back

I'm using my iPhone 4S on the O2 (UK) network. I've noticed so far, twice that the iPhone 4S does not show any 3G (or edge even) connection at times. When I restart the phone it picks up a 3G connection immediately.

Anyone faced this issue? I'm not sure if its a carrier issue or something wrong with my hardware?

Hi All I had the same issue. I brought my iphone 4s back to an apple retail store where i purchased it. they replaced it and viola - my phone stayed on 3G always... live in usa central region

it is the iphone 4s not the software program... it was stuck on E which is the 2g network always...

after replacing my iphone 4s with a different one - 3g always

thanks

I forgot to mention my carrier is at&t and they told me if I had an iphone 4 prior and updated to iphone 4s they needed to provision my iphone 4s for their new network.. when they did this my 3g speeds increased tremendously.. so if you have at&t I would suggest you call them and see if your iphone 4s is provisioned for the new network speeds.

Mine looses signal when I run any location aware apps like google maps. Ex.. I start google maps and input an adress and it finds it, but after a couple of seconds my phone drops 3G signal and I get a searching for signal message. If I leave the app running in the background and try to make a call my phone call drops. The only thing I can do is disable location services.

As a test, I put the sim lock back on. After literally a few minutes it refused to send text messages and then said No Service.. so I took it off again and now works perfectly again.... It is bizarre that something so silly can make such a difference to the phone...

Apple are sending me a replacement so I really hope the same thing doesn't happen. Especially as I have to refit both front and rear Iphone protection films... and bumper!

Ive been having this problem for 2 weeks now since updating to iOS5 and am not impressed with how apple is handling the situation. We are getting absoluetly no feedback from apple on the problem, and i dont want to go to a apple store thats 2 h away from me.. and if they do replace it, give me a refurb unit. Ive pampered my phone since ive gotten it and its been awesome untill iOS5. ive done 3-4 restores (tried all the different methods that were explained on the site (do without the sim inserted, try a older restore, different pc, turn off location services, etc) , and the phone works great for 3 days, then the searching... no service problem begins.😠

Im just dissapointed because i payed full pop for this unlocked phone right from the apple store.

Google Nexus S here i come.
