iPhone 4S drops 3G, have to restart phone to get it back

I'm using my iPhone 4S on the O2 (UK) network. I've noticed so far, twice that the iPhone 4S does not show any 3G (or edge even) connection at times. When I restart the phone it picks up a 3G connection immediately.


Anyone faced this issue? I'm not sure if its a carrier issue or something wrong with my hardware?

There is no data that the iOS 5.0.1 update could fix this problem. Just turn off the PIN and be happy if this helps.

I got a new iPhone 4S which works fine, that a solution, too.


If you would like to help Apple to fix this problem, you could contact to Apple to get instructions how to provide precise information to Apple about your technical problem.

I also have the 3G issue which requires a restart to get it back.

I have never had my sim pin on

same sim card was used in my iPhone 4 with no issues


I also have a BB which shows 3G signal.


it seams to happen most when moving from wifi to cellular network.


the resent software update as not fixed it



I can only assume this is a hardware issue.

It seems disabling the SIM-Pin is working for me. My Iphone 4 is now finding cellular network again if it looses connection. But this also means security for me is not acceptable.


Apple - you are amateurs.....


PS: I read in another thread that some users have solved their problem by getting a new SIM card of 128k. (instead of 64k) - Have no idea what it means 😉

It seemed for me that turning the sim code back on (a few days ago) made the connection drop again, so I turned it off, yet again.


After turning the sim pin code off, I see that the battery is draining faster than what was usual on my old iPhone 4.

I can only come to the "layman" conclusion that there is a leak of battery usage when the phone searches for different connections (it´s of course just my subjective guess).

But my battery is still better than what others experience; some say they have a 20% drop on battery during the night, while I had only 4-5% this night.


In my Location services/system services settings I have shut off: diagnostics & usage, location based iAds and setting time zone.


On my iPhone 4, sometimes I could see 99 or 100% on my battery when I woke up in the morning (the battery was fully charged before I got to bed). So that way better than on my iPhone 4S.


I´m going to do a full drain on my battery (maybe this night), and then charge it up with the app Battery Doctor turned on and do the full cycle charge, and then the "trickle charge" (look up the mentioned app if interested).

I´ll report back here later.

Things have been getting even worse for me.


Ive posted this on another thead goin on about the same problems

Ive had the no signal, searching problem for over 4 weeks now. And doing a restore through itunes used to give me about 3 days of "normal" phone operation (i could call, send texts, etc) before it would lockup in its no signal, searching bull ****. Now restores do abosulety nothing, plus. Now the phone freezes and basicaly ***** a brick. When it starts to get ****** off, it would just freeze when i try to swipe between pages, or go through menus.Then it would have a no signal/searching seizure.


If apple actualy gave a **** and read about our problems, they would attempt to contact me and take my phone in for investigation. I have no way right now to call apple, and if i try to request service on their support site, it just gives me a "Can not complete" error bull ****.


***!!!


I am also not in the mood to go to a apple store (3 hrs away), and begin fighting with the "Fluffy" employees to get my phone replaced.

Outputs from my call with apple care- I guess you could call it the standrd actions


1. Complete wipe of phone back to factory settings

2. Restore phone


I was told this would rectify the isues.


3. If not then they would need to swap the unti out vi a trip to apple store ( non local to me)


I will try the above and also try a new SIM card and see if that resolves, if not then A new phone it is - will be waiting mind untill the first batch of 4S have been and gone and any updates applied to a remodling etc.
