There is no data that the iOS 5.0.1 update could fix this problem. Just turn off the PIN and be happy if this helps.
I got a new iPhone 4S which works fine, that a solution, too.
If you would like to help Apple to fix this problem, you could contact to Apple to get instructions how to provide precise information to Apple about your technical problem.
