Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
Just got my iPhone 4s for 4 days, it turns off itself while on standby after use, have to do hard start by pressing shut off and home buttons, and battery is still 84%. This auto shut off happened 3 times already, did resetting as factory new twice, it is not solving the problem. Can anyone help me, before I head to apple store.

Seems to be very common, mine did the exact same thing. Not a good situation since I'm on call all the time and could get in big trouble if I miss a call. Hope this is resolved soon. Good Luck
This just happened to my iPhone 4s also. Except it won't even do a hard reset!!
It is completely dead. I got it on Friday and it has been fine all week until today.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this or is?

My question is: if I restore it and set it up as a new phone what will happen to all my photos, contacts , notes, etc.? That's why I'm afraid to doing anything. I don't want to lose all my stuff.
I just purchased a 4s 16G two weeks ago, I experienced the same problem. Sometimes in my pocket, sometimes on my console table. Pressed home button, nothing happened; pressed power button, nothing happened; pressed both then only the the apple appeared. Battery still 38%, sometimes 86%. Is this a common 4s defect by apple?
