Q: Has any of iOS 5 iPad users experienced slow safari browser, frequent crashes and slow keyboard response when posting something online?

Can you add to your post in a few days after you had some time using the rebuilt/reloaded iPad. I hope your process works and eliminates a lot of issues I/we are having. It would be great to if your fix keeps working after a few days.

I noticed in trying to close tabs in Safari that it will take one or ten touches on the close X. I was not paying very close  attention and the extra attempts I dismissed as bad alignment. Now I notice the extra touches required to bring focus in the Google search and the URL areas and trying to move the cursor on forms on web pages.

I deeply regret updating to OS5. Is it possible to go back to previous system?

D_Cow, wiping my iPad clean and re-loading (NOT restoring) everything has indeed made all functions more stable. I've only had 2 Safari crashes since I did this more than a week ago (and I use Safari a lot every day), typing speed is improved, and other apps have pretty much stopped crashing. The two times Safari crashed I had a large number of apps still open in the multi-tasking bar. Keeping that cleared out prior to browsing seems to be a significant issue. The few apps that continued to crash I deleted and re-downloaded from the app store and that seems to have resolved those issues. I shouldn't be surprised that all this had to be done, as in my 20+ years of using computers (all Apple), it has not been unusual that I would get better performance with major system upgrades if I wiped my hard drive(s) clean and re-loaded software. Junk builds up over time that just needs to be cleaned out. Good luck to you and anyone else having similar problems!

Tasa, Thanks for recommendation.. I will follow your lead and start from a clean iPad. I too have been working with computers starting with Win 386 on a 8085 and after most major upgrades I had to wipe the drive and start over. Again thanks

my iPad is just an iBooks machine, since it's the only one that works reliably for more than 2 minutes, and being a "book" it's not saying much

iPad?  I could do without all the issues with this brick. Yes brick. Since I updated to the latest os. Its been on a go slow, just like our government. Just a question. Is out government supplied with iPads?  Might be a reason why we are in so much trouble. I've also found, since I upgraded, my PayPal account and hotmail contacts have been used. Before anyone blames another pc/laptop. I only use a laptop to back up my iPad. Nothing else. Also my anti virus and Internet software is bang upto date. Does anyone else have security issues since updating?

I tried all sorts of things . wiping clean , soft reboot  Then I realizesd the major change I'd ICloud I deleted my ICloud email account which had automatically imposed itself Now the apple is a happy as the pig in ****..

Safari keeps crashing for mee too! The browser opends old content from time to time from previous days eventhoug you are surfing on a Web sie which is updated daily

As an alternative just installed Opera mini and works great !

Same here.  Slow, unresponsive, and frequent Safari crashes.

Same problems here.  I have done a full new restore and have not installed any apps and the problems still occur.  Always the same.... low memory and only when using safari mobile
