Dec 16, 2011 3:31 PM in response to crissyanonby Diavonex,Have you tried resetting the iPad?
Hold down the Sleep and Home button for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo.

Dec 16, 2011 6:35 PM in response to crissyanonby JP_Seoul,I think the best bet is turning off iCloud syncing.. worked for me. But the iOS5 is still a failure... even with the core functionality turned off it's worse than iOS4.

Jan 12, 2012 11:18 AM in response to meqnineby Anitab07,I'm looking at the dates of these postings and now it's January 12th and I'm still experiencing the same problems as everyone on this forum. The fixes suggested sometimes work for a while but then return. I have gotten rid of all news apps and some other heavy apps and still the problems return. I have an un- jailbroken original iPad that has worked beautifully until this past week. Would love to see Apple at least acknowledge the problem and let us know they are working on a fix.

Jan 20, 2012 4:07 AM in response to Ronwyboby Kryn Sporry,It's intersting that iOS5 is still an issue. After switching off iCloud all together I still have most apps crashing on me every 10 minutes or so. Safari is a little more stable now with iCloud switched off. But the keyboard is massively unresponsive.
It' sbeen ages since iOS5 came out, and it was simply not tested on older platforms. From what I hear is that the iPad 2 also has similar issues. Some people suggested that iOS5 was never meant for iPad 1. If that's the case, why would Apple release it for all iOS devices when it is not suitable for anything but iPhone 4S?

Jan 20, 2012 7:37 PM in response to meqnineby dougteeshot35,I found the reason why our iPads are slow after iOS 5!!!!!!!
What you need to do is this:
1) launch settings, go to mail contacts and calendars, go to fetch new data, advanced, and set iCloud to fetch.
2) go back and set an interval of when to fetch. Mine is set for thirty minutes.
3) make sure on top push is still on, that means that all your emails will still be pushed, but all the iCloud sync (contacts, calendars, reminders, bookmarks) will happen at the interval you choose.
Restart the device. Your performance should be 10x faster! No more keyboard lag, nothing! Doing this puts less stress on the A4 chip, which we know we need every bit we can get with it now!!!
Optional:
1) in the settings, go to safari.
2) clear all history and cookies/data
3) enable private browsing. One of the biggest reasons why devices are slow is because it keeps all the history and cookies in the RAM. You need more RAM to make things faster. By turning on private browsing, it never records it!
Hope this helps with everyone else like it did for me!!

Feb 2, 2012 8:36 PM in response to meqnineby Jbranch,Add me to the list. Safari crashes all the time. Typing lags also and sometimes when I do the zoom to place the cursor it jumps around or doesn't show up at all. It's ******* me off. My 3GS iPhone is dong the same thing. Typing lags and the message app takes a bit to pull up too. Some times when it pulls up the name of the person that texts is on the side when the phone is being held the normal way. When is the new update coming?

Feb 11, 2012 2:58 PM in response to meqnineby paulio2000,Run the workarounds, it improved for about a week but now is rubbish again. Safar just crashes when it feels like it. Sometimes it just refuses to visit links. Very poor. We need a fix apple. Next stop twitter/Facebook/etc. Perhaps someone there will listen? Maybe even parody the iPad ads, showing black screen on ipad next to a Samsung showing the site?
Come on apple!
