MacBook Pro and Dell N5010 Ram Swap?

Hi guys I don't know much about this subject so any help would be great.

I have a Macbook Pro 13 inch with Lion, 4GB of Ram which is basically the early 2011 model

and my mom wanted to buy a laptop so she bought a Dell N5010 with Windows 7 and 8GB of ram.

I looked up my type of ram and its DDR3 which is also the same type my moms Dell uses, thing is she doesn't need that much ram since all she does is email, surf the web, and things like that. So, I asked her if she was ok with me switching the ram with each other and she said it was fine with her.

My question is if this is possible? I know that if we change enough components on a desktop, Windows won't recognize the system and have us reactivate/ reinstall it but since its just a ram swap will there be any complications?

The extra ram would be great since I'm always rendering our home movies and (attempting) to make iOS games on my Macbook Pro, rather than just surfing the web and whatnot.

Thanks for any help guys!!

if they are ddr3 and support the same pins, I don't see why it would hurt to try. who made your mom's ram? if it's samsung, you're almost golden as long as the pins match. When you have both sticks out, compare their connectors (the gold part along the edge) and see if they match exactly.

Having said that, I would look up the make and model and google the model of the ram (comany name ddr3) and macbookpro.
