In Finder- handles for changing column width are gone

Since installing Lion, I can no longer change the column width when in List View of Finder. The handlebars are not there so there is nothing to grab. Does anyone know how to get the handles back?

Choose View > Arrange By > None while the window is front. (Arrange By is also in the Action Menu and the Contextual Menu.) The column widths set in Arrange By>None appear to be maintained if you switch back to another Arrange By option.

Incidentally, you can get rid of that ? in the Finder Toolbar by Command-dragging it off. It is a broken shortcut button.
