On my new iPhone4s, when I try to enter a new event on calendar after entering all the data I get the message"cannot save event - no calendar has been set" or "That event does not belong to th at event store". What am I neglecting?

I had this same problem. I closed all of my applications that were running, and then I was able to enter a new event calendar!
To close your applications:
-- Double tap the Home button to bring up the Multitasking bar
– Press and hold anywhere on the multitasking bar until the icons on it start to wiggle.
– While they are wiggling, each icon has a Minus sign symbol above it.
– Press the Minus symbol above any app to close it down

Having somewhat of the same issue when it comes to setting events. However, I do not have the + symbol when I open the calendar. I have tried holding down the day that I want to schedule an event for a few seconds but nothing happened. All apps are closed I have rebooted the phone and still nothing. I have also tried using Siri to make an appointment, but as soon as it asks me if I want to confirm and I say yes after a few seconds it tells me that it is unable to schedule my event.
Please help!!!
ps I am attaching a screenshot of my calendar incase anyone thinks I am misunderstanding what it should look like.

I still have not been able to solve my issue.... any other wisdom to throw out there?? I have closed all apps and rebooted still can't get it to work.
I have the same issue as well for the iPad 2. Tried closing all applications and rebooting. Nothing works so far. If anyone has come up with other solutions please post.

Just logged on to to this support page, with the same problem - unable to enter a new appointment into my iPhones iCal app - and was not optimistic. However, it was so simple - THANK YOU.

Just turn your phone off, wait for ten seconds, turn it back on, and the problem will be fixed. Worked for me.

This worked for me as well. I don not understand why but it worked, sounds like a mighty strange bug to me...

I had to choose a calendar to synk to in settings before I could ad anything. When I choose my Goggle calendar, I was able to add and edit events. Hope you found this out before now.
If you go to iCloud in setting... Calendar prob is "off"... If you turn it "on" it should let you add new events.. It worked for me:-)
