iCal subscribed calendar changes not pushed to iCloud correctly?

I have subscribed to an online calendar through iCal and have it set to check the calendar every 15 min and then push it to iCloud. When a new item is added to the subscribed calendar, both iCal and iCloud update fine. However, when an item is removed from the subscribed calendar ... it is removed from ICal, but the change is never pushed to iCloud (and always stays on my phone). I have to delete the subscribed calendar and re-add it to get the removals synced up correctly. Am I missing something? Or is this a software problem / glitch?
