As of last night my iPad has randomly been beeping at me. This has carried on even when shutdown or on mute. If anyone could let me know why this is happening and how to fix it will be very much appreciated.

I also had the same problem and the answer turned out to be under Perference -> General -> Sound. Apparently my "New Mail" notification was on with the sound set to Bing. This made sense with Bing sounds happening all the time and randomly.

Mute.
Sleeping.
*beep* (sounds like a dong/chime).
No pop ups.
Mail Not set up.
Wifi turned off.

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release].
Mine has been doing that too. I think I have isolated it to my microsoft exchange email. But I have scilenced all notifications but it still happens!
