Why cant I put a profile picture and a status on game center?

GameCenter can't be the same. It is part of the OS, so it is the newest..

You might want to fully restore the iPod to iOS5 again to make sure the OS is not damaged. Connect to iTunes via cable, click the restore button in the first screen itunes will show you. This loads iOS5 directly from Apple's Servers and installs fresh to iPod.

I have the exact same problem, but I think it has to do with age. Some of my friends who originally registered their Apple IDs at an age higher than 13 have access to this feature. Even though I am now past the age restriction stuff it hasn't changed for me. Maybe it's a problem with their system, possibly a bug that they don't know about?

I had the same problem and I went to the apple store to get it fixed. But the person fixing it had the excact same problem. So we restored it, and it worked. When I got home, it didn't. I can't explain why and I doubt anyone else can. So do what I do, wait for the next iOS update and hope for the best.🙂

I see nothing in this conversation that would be able to help. I might be developing a theory though. I think it's because when I downloaded iOS 5 onto my computer, the file might have been either corrupt, or maybe my antivirus system screwed it up. Which means that when I transferred it to my device, it wouldn't work. Unfortunately, I live in New England, and just got my power back today, so I haven't been able to test my theory. But I'll look into this, and I'd suggest you do to, just in case there are different results; and I'll get back to you in a few days. 😁

Sorry, but I don't think that is the problem. I tried my brother's account and it worked, and I also tried my account in other iPhones and it didn't work, so it is something related to ones account, I just don't have a clue what it is.

I have the same problem, I have had this ever since I signed up to game centre - when it first came out. When it first came out I found that I could in fact post a status, but then I updated my iPod and, poof! I could no longer post a status. I have now upgraded my new iPhone 4 to IOS 5 and I still can't write a status or post a picture. I created an account for my dad on the same iPhone 4 however, and I found that my dad's account allowed me to write a status and post a profile picture. This leads me to believe that it is to do with the account itself. I tried changing my Apple ID email but no change to the situation. I now think it is something to do with the Apple updates themselves. Hope someone figures it out soon!

I HAVE FOUND AND TESTED A FIX!

Finally after many hours of google searching I found the answer to the dismay.

If had a Game Center Account, before updating to iOS 5, you will not be able to post statuses or have a profile picture. But alas, there is a fix: you must reset your Game Center account. Sounds Easy Enought Right? Wrong. Apple couldn't have made this more confusing. But you can use Gameolosophy's guide at http://gameolosophy.com/games/how-to-reset-game-center/

Now, this should work!
