Itunes downloads interrupted

Hello, I'm using I-tunes for Windows and I've got a Windows 7. I'm trying to download the software upgrade for my i-phone 3GS, and each time I try downloading it the download stops after a few MBs are downloaded and I should try downloading it from scratch. I've got a bradwidth connection at home. Can anyone please give me a solution to this problem?
