Hi i bought an Iphone 4S day before yesterday. And i'm having problems with the wifi. wifi freezes after like evey 15- 20 mins. by freeze i mean it stays connected but that nothing works i dont lose singals or anything but internet stops working on the phone then i have turn off the wifi and connect it again to make it work for another 10-20 mins. is anyone else so facing the same problem?

Same problem except it only works for 10 seconds. Long enough to download emails and then stops working. Occurs on 2 different WAPs. Belkin and the one integrated into my FIOS router.
By the way, it was working fine for several days after I purchased it. I've only noticed this problem today.
I think i solved the problem its working fine and its been 3 hours already since the wifi is working with out any problems.
try giving your iphone's mac address a fixed ip from the your router! dont set a static ip on your phone cause then you'll need to change the settings again and again when u connect to a different networks. try doing this! it worked for me.
So what do you do when you are using public wifi?
I did a "forget" of all my networks and started from scratch. So far things have been stable. Two networks that I used for test purposes at work had the same password. Not sure if that caused an issue or conflict. I can't imagine why it would as the SSIDs were different.
Anyway, I haven't noticed any problems since yesterday.
Same here. I have to do a forget and connect again, but it does happen on my 4 before, just not so frequently. I believe it's an issue with iOS 5, not the 4s phone.
Have the same issue. Using Apple's Time Capsule, the wifi is better when I'm sitting right next to it, but if I am one room away the connection chokes. Using the Speed Test app, I see that the connection is good for a few seconds then it slows to a crawl, it won't even begin uploading in the upload portion of the test. Apple, please fix this!
As i said earlier assign your phone a fixed ip and it should be working fine.. Its working perfectly fine for me now.

i have the same problem - wifi worked well for first 2-3 days, then used a public network (funnily enough at an Apple Store) then when I got home everything stopped working.
Now I am only able to intermittently join my home wifi network and even then it's so slow!
Have tried forgetting network, resetting network settings, clearing all settings - none of which solves the problem.
Is this an ios5 problem, or something worse like a hardware/antenna fault with the iphone 4S?
I have exactly the same problem. Sadly, assigning a fixed IP address on my Airport Extreme did not fix the problem.
If you Google iPhone 4S WIFI problems, it seems to be widespread! Contact Apple and advise them about it. It seems to be a serious issue and thought my phone was defective. Hopefully it's an iOS 5 issue otherwise Apple will have a major hardware headache on there hands.

try changing your operating channel of your router, sounds like you could have interference
I am not alone with this problem. I don't have this issue with my iPhone 4 at the same location. Why is the iPhone 4S having interference issues now?
This seems to be widespread and I am not alone. Google it. Check your forums. It works and then stops altogether. You have to reset network settings or turn phone off/on to work again and then same issue occurs.
It's either a) a bug b) defective hardware.
Let us know which one it is Apple!
I shouldn't have to change my channel on the router daily to get my iPhone to work. Never have in the past and never should in the future.
wifi is unfortunately easily affected by interference - that's actually extremely common. you could try taking your phone to an apple store.
have you tried changing the channel at all? i agree you shouldn't have to change your channel daily.
