Logic Pro 8 Slow one .mp3?

Hello.

I'm new to Logic Pro 8.

Do not know how to use almost anything.

I have a question (well, actually I have hundreds but this is the first one):

How I can get one .mp3 is played at a slower speed?

I would appreciate your response.

Greetings from Valencia, Spain

Hi,

Logic 9 has more tricks for this, but in Logic 8 you can use the Time & Pitch Machine for this.

By double clicking the mp3 region in the arrange window you enter the Sample Editor. Click Factory > Time and Pitch Machine.

If Time & Pitch Machine is greyed out, go back to the arrange window, and choose

Audio>ConvertRegionstoNewAudioFiles. This will be needed when the region is the original mp3 instead of a converted aif.

Hope this helps!

Ok, thanks, but not working.

I open the Sample Editor by double clicking on it .mp3, I select all .mp3 in the sample editor, then I open the Time and Pitch Factory Machine (all in gray), I lower the tempo and I give-and-paste process, I hopea little until recently and when I playing the .mp3 is still listening to the same original speed.

I must be doing something wrong.

Ok, thanks Pancenter, but I just started using Logic and with the aid manual and can not find the answer, because it is too long. I've signed up for a guitar coursefor country music and blues and the teacher sent us by mail at the melody. Mp3 for the practice at home before going to class and I need to simply reduce the playback speed to follow the tune because I'm still learning toplay guitar. Indeed, the issue is Kansas Travel and I really like.

I already know that the software Logic, does many things and little by little Istart learning with the help of the manual, but I think this must be something very simple and not do it.

Hi,

as I wrote in my 1st reply, the Time & Pitch Machine can sometimes be grayed out. This is because an mp3 itself cannot be edited directly in Logic because of it's compressed nature. In that case choose Audio>ConvertRegionstoNewAudioFiles. The region should be in aif or wav format in order to edit it.

What you can do also is that you download the Switch audio converter here: http://www.nch.com.au/switch/index.html and use that to make an aif. Beware that the sample rate should match that of your Logic project (Preferences > Audio)

When you type a letter b, that's where the "B" button (aka key) is... but since the mp3 is already converted, you don't need my conversion walkthrough anyway.

There are a few ways of speeding up an audio file: stretching it to a shorter(!) length, or using the Time and Pitch machine in the Sample/Wave Editor, or using flex, or, if the Audio File has a Follow Tempo checkbox, tick that and simply alter (accellerate) the project tempo. It's all in the manuals, which I believe also are available in Spanish.

OK, thanks Jaap an Eriksimon:

Yes, I have it in Spanish manual, what happens is that it is very long and do not understand many things it says.

Anyway I will see pages that tells me (505 and 318), and watch the video to show me.

I know that I ask to be a very simple thing, but I can not get it.

Anyway thank you for your help and look forward to having support in thisforum.

Thank you very much, greetings from Valencia, Spain, and have a good day.
