I have following problem: If i want to send a group message with the message App to more than 1 numbers and one of them uses iMessage, the message will only be sent to the friend with iMessage, all others don´t receive a message! Thats a bug APPLE!!!!

iPhone 4, iOS 5

As with email, if a message is successfully sent, what happens to the message after that has nothing to do with the iPhone or iOS.

Sorry, don´t understand your reply (I´m not sooo good in english)

    The problem is:

I want to send a Short Message to for example 10 Numbers.

But if one of them is using iMessage, the "Send" Button gets blue and it will only be sent to the number with iMessage, but i want to send it to all of them!

    (Sorry for my english)

So there is a red error indicator on the message indicating the message was not sent to all contacts included with the message?

If not, the message was sent to all.

For message Groups i use an App which lets me make Groups named "uContacts" (The problem appears with all other apps, too, where you can create Groups for messaging)

If i manually add Numbers in the Message App there are all green (standard SMS, that´s the way i want to send the Messages), but if i use the Group App, they are all blue, but not everyone of them has iMessage and iOS5!

I don´t want to pick them manually everytime i have to send a group message because i often have to inform them about sth.!

In iOS4 that worked without problems! Thats a bug! Apple has to be informed about that!

I hope you understand my problem!

iOS 4 did not have iMessage capability.

The bug is with the group messaging app you are using.

I'm having the opposite problem -- a friend sent out a group message.  When I reply, the only thing I can do is to reply all -- there's not the option to reply just to the person who sent the message.  Now I have my friend's friends texting me "hi, who is this, I got a text from you."

Is there a way to reply-to-only-sender? Also it seems like a bug that when you reply it's reply-all but there's no indication of that at the time you press Send.

I have the same problem!  Did you receive an answer on this?

I'm also having the same problem. If I send a picture mail (with group setting turned off), if someone responds back to that picture it goes to everyone I sent it to.

That makes it difficult if your sending to a group of people that don't know each other. Everyone sees all replies and all end up wondering who everyone is. Not fun.

I would also like to be able to have the message replies only go back to the sender not everyone on that it was sent to originaly. I turned off group messaging in the settings but it worked one day and then didn't work the next day, must be a bug in the software.

      Setting>Messages>Group Messaging -- OFF

Currently on the phone with apple. They act like no one else is having this issue, although I know of several people who are. They are thinking it must be carrier related and is wanting to get ATT involved. Are all of you guys on ATT?

I'm on Verizon along with 3 other people that have the same problem. 3 of the phones are iPhone 4s and one is iPhone 4, all running iOS5.

When you go to answer back to the sender the Top shows "Group Message" even though in Settings>Messenger>Group Message is set to OFF. That means the phone is setting it up to go to all people within the group. This is a iOS5 software problem and not a carrier problem. Apple needs to fix it, the Setting for Group Message on/off only does an "ON" no matter what it is set to.

Thank you for your help!  Hopefully they will fix that in future updates!  Until then I will be more careful!!

When I was on the phone with Apple two days ago, they insisted that they weren't getting reports of the issue.

If you have the issue, please do us all a favor and open a case with them, as I'm sure that you like me would love to get this resolved sooner versus later.
