Time Capsule and Win98 /

Win98 can see the time capsule disk, but does't recognize the password ! have you an idea about ?

I use the Time Capsule as an external Ethernet disk connected on a 3com switch. Two PC are connected on the switch. For the VAIO windows vista, all is good. The connection is ok. The PC win98 can see the Time Capsule but when I select the disk on the exporer, this on ask me for the password (as the PC Vista) and when I confirm the password, it write me "incorect password, try again". This is the same password I used with the PC Vista...

Thanks

Christophe

Win98 handling of passwords may simply be too primitive to work. Do you have bonjour loaded on the win98 machine? Did you try turning on the guest access in the TC and see if that then works on the win98?

I am not sure how to tell you this.. but XP is already out of service updates.. and that is a long long way in front of win98.. I can find a PC on the roadside still working with win98 on it.. for free.. it might cost $30 to get one with xp on it from ebay..just maybe it might be time to update. The weakest link in security is the lowest OS in the network.. win98 is just so open to the world of nasties you should not sleep at night.
