How to add a pic to my desktop - not as wallpaper

I have a couple of pics that I want to "hang" as small images on my desktop - NOT as wallpaper but just a couple of little pics - of the kids, etc.

Is there anyway I can just drag a jpg, gif or other image onto my desk top and size it to the size I want?

Kind of like taping a picture of someone to my monitor or desk.

Realize this is probably a crazy question, but... thanks.

Can you resize the image in stickies once its pasted on it?

No. But, you can resize the image in Preview as follows:

  1. Open image file in Preview.
  2. View > Actual Size
  3. Tools > Adjust Size ... Resize as necessary.
  4. Edit > Select All
  5. Edit > Copy
  6. Close Preview without saving so you won't overwrite you picture file.
  7. Now you can paste the resized image into the note.
