How do I activate iMessage on my iPad?

 

I am using same Apple ID / password that I use on my iPhone 4 Messages App. I have no issues on my iphone.

 

I have tried changing DNS settings to 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4

 

I cannnot log into Factime (problem seems related).

 

Testing of various other Apple IDs on the iPad for iMessage resulted in the same result failure to log in (same Apple IDs tested on an iPhone 4 with successful logins). 

 

The following message was given in a pop up upon failure to log in with Apple ID:

 

"  iMessage Activation

 

Could not sign in.  Please check your network connection and try again.  "

 

(also note:  Same error appears when logging into facetime via iPad. )

 

What can I do at this point?

I did a backup and a restore.

 

I re-entered the same Apple ID that wasn't working before.

 

It worked...

 

Problem resolved.

 

 

Just a note: This resolved the facetime and the findmyiphone (couldnt locate ipad) features as well.
