MPB crashes when plugging PS

This a US version of MBP 15" matt screen bough in December 2010.

I am experiencing some issues with it.

Some times when I replug the power supply, I get a dark grey curtain falling on my screen, with the instruction reading to force quit and reboot.

It seems this is now happening a bit too often for my comfort.

I have experienced this also once or twice while watching video on iplayer or so

My PS is a brand new UK replacement under warranty after the previous one, started having false contact.

Have any of you experienced such an issue.

Many thanks

In reply to the couple of people who advised me on that thread. Somehow i can't see the messages on this forum.

Any way:

I took an appointment at the genius bar, and they had a quick look at my MBP.

They are the one who decided that the power supply was faulty, and provided me with a new one.

I myself was wondering about the connection in the MBP, but with the new PS it seems to connect well.

It is when I reconnect the PS that the MBP goes Crash. But this happen only randomly at the most unexpected moment.

Hi lune,

there are sync problems in the forum posts already for days, that's the reason that some forum post appear much later sometimes (but eventually they arrive).

I still suspect the magsafe slot in the MBP, as the probable cause of the issue. Maybe even worse inside or after the connection in the MBP.

If aircleaning does not work, go back to the Genius and explain, while the charger is still under guarantee. And your MBP may well be under warranty also:

goto the following page, and type in the serialnumber:

This is a report I got after another crash today. If that means anything to anyone it would be great to have a bit of feedback before I drop to the repair team.

Many thanks

The high ranking of Parallels and Little extensions in the report concerns me:

First try disabling LittleSnitch and testing. If that doesn't work, make sure both it and Parallels have the latest updates.

The is a patch for Parallels but it was to fix a problem of the Dock using 100 percent of processor cycles after upgrading the OS to 10.6.8, Your problem sounds unrelated.

Oct 26, 2011 7:36 AM in response to lune

I agree with Allan about the Little Snitch.

For Parallels Desktop you have V6 now, and you already have the latest update of V6, this is very stable. The Dock issue was already solved in an earlier update.

You do not upgrade Parallels to V7 (cost), because that does not add anything as long as you do not have Lion. (As soon as you run Lion OS you have to upgrade to V7, and take the 2 or 3 V7-updates immediately).

In relation to your problem: I am sticking with my earlier post. The hardware Genius could easily test if it is a problem in the connector or the powersupply in the mac.

Feb 11, 2012 7:31 AM in response to lune

Your MacBook Pro model 6,2 has known issues with the graphics hardware. It has two graphics processor, the AppleIntelHDGraphics high in your backtrace, and the NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M. Depending on your power saving setting, with power supply disconnected it runs on the Intel and with power supply connected on the NVIDIA. You mention that crashes happen during watching video - it could be that when plugging in the power supply during a demanding video application, the MBP switches from integrated to discrete and that is the known situation when this MBP 6,2 crashes.

The logic boards of 6,2 with kernel problems due to video processing get replaced for free...
