I've done this a few times and still no luck (BTW hansolo415, your instructions leave out pressing the "call" button after the *5005*...chain; Qbano100 luckily mentions it in his post. BTW, I get "your call cannot be completed as dialed" at that point; I assume that's normal?). All that happened for me is my fonts shrunk and wallpaper disappeared!

While Visual Voicemail is an iOS function, it is still either supported or not supported by your carrier. Your carrier provides your voicemail, and if they are an Apple supported carrier, they either support VVM or not. If they do not, there isn't anything that you need to do, just tap the voicemail button and the phone will react in the way your carrier has your voicemail set up. If they do support VVM, then your voicemail downloads on the cellular data connection and you can use the features of VVM. If you are not using a supported carrier, then your voicemail should remain as you are used to, it just dials your access number. If you are having problems with voicemail or VVM, you will still need to contact your carrier for assistance. They will have to either reset or diagnose any voicemail issues that you may be having to correct it. The only other troubleshooting that you can do at the phone end is to go into Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings to see if that helps before contacting your carrier.

well, it turns out I DID need to call AT&T to get rid of Visual Voicemail! Took them two tries to get it right but it's now gone.

Regarding the *#61# [call] sequence, I did get a sequence of "Setting Interogation Succeeded..." details that include the number to my voicemail. Is there any way to change the number the phone now calls (now that Visual Voicemail is gone) when I press the Voicemail icon at the bottom of the "Phone" screen? I'd like to append it with a "wait" or "pause" command and my password, which is what I've done with the Contact I set up as "Voicemail".

That question would have to be answered by your carrier as well. As stated earlier, they control voicemail. I know that if VVM is not set up originally on your account, when you tap the voicemail button, it dials your voicemail number, but this is all done "behind the scene". There is no setting available on the phone for determining the number, or editing the same.

That's not a very nice to say especially since you can't know how this affects him/her. I too HATE visual voicemail. I'm have a tech background, use my smartphone ALL the time but the visual voicemail doesn't work well and I don't want it. So your comment that this person doesn't want to hear the truth isn't accurate in my case. What we need is an answer not a tongue lashing.

You're responding to an almost six year old post from someone I don't recall seeing here in a long time. Do you have a technical suggestion?
