try a Reset. hold down the Home and Sleep buttons at the same time for ~10 seconds, ignore the red slider. the iPad will then perform a reset.

It may be a problem with the backup of the iPad. Read this support article for some tips on how to alleviate the problem. A very common fix is to delete the iPad backup and then try to sync again. Some users prefer to copy and move the current backup to another folder on your hard drive before they delete the backup but you can read this and see what you think.
I disconnected my iPad from my iMac. I then reset my iPad by Pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appeared.
I rebooted my iMac. Once both were up and running again, I connected my iPad and it performed a perfect sync.
I just restarted iTune and it started syncing with no problem. Prior to that, I tried ejecting the iPad and restarted the iPad but the problem remained. Restarting iTune solved the problem.
thanks! this worked for me too 😉
I reset the iPad and it did not work for me. I then reconnected the iPad to the mac and it worked!
As of downloading the latest Itunes update (3/24), I have not been able to sync anything to my ipad or ipod. None of the above seems works, including restarting itunes, rebooting my ipad, holding the ipad power on/off and side-buttons at the same time, etc. . Says "..cannot be synced because required disc cannot be found. pretty frustrating ,,,
Thank you!
'Reset' worked for me! Thank you.
Thanks, since we nowadays deal with more complicate devices, we have started to forget some basic things..
Restarting 🙂 is a great solution for everything..
Worked perfectly! Thanks!
