try a Reset. hold down the Home and Sleep buttons at the same time for ~10 seconds, ignore the red slider. the iPad will then perform a reset.

It may be a problem with the backup of the iPad. Read this support article for some tips on how to alleviate the problem. A very common fix is to delete the iPad backup and then try to sync again. Some users prefer to copy and move the current backup to another folder on your hard drive before they delete the backup but you can read this and see what you think.

As of downloading the latest Itunes update (3/24), I have not been able to sync anything to my ipad or ipod. None of the above seems works, including restarting itunes, rebooting my ipad, holding the ipad power on/off and side-buttons at the same time, etc. . Says "..cannot be synced because required disc cannot be found. pretty frustrating ,,,
