How do I delete the photostream album after turning photostream off?

I briefly turned Photo Stream on, then realized that I couldn't use it because I don't have iPhoto '11, so I turned it back off. Now when I go into photos on my iPhone I have another album called "Photo Stream" that's still present despite the fact that I've turned Photo Stream off. How do I get rid of it?

I understand that you can't delete photos from Photo Stream, that's not what I'm asking to do. I just want to get rid of the album itself now that Photo Stream is no longer turned on.

Nevermind I figured it out

I had to turn it back on, actually take a photo and wait for it to upload to photo stream, then turn it off and confirm the popup warning me that all photo stream photos on the device would be deleted...this also deleted the album

1. Delete your current iCloud account off of your iOS 5 device.

2. Sign into the original iCloud account (the one linked to the inactive photostream album)

3. Make sure photostream is turned ON

4. Take a picutre, and wait for it to appear in the Photostream.

5. Go into setting and turn off photostream, deleting all pictures, and getting rid of the photostream album.

6. Delete the iCloud account.

7. Sign back into the correct iCloud account on your iOS 5 account.

I've been checking this thread for a while hoping to find a solution for the "dummy photostream" album that appears NOT to be associated to the appleID, as described by WdstkGuru.

One of my photostream albums clearly goes with my appleID/iCloud account. I've added and removed that account several times and the associated photostream folder comes and goes as its supposed to. However, the second one stays. I even tried signing into iCloud with my @me.com address, but that made no difference.

Assuming for a minute that I created another iCloud account at some point and don't remember what it is and that the dummy folder goes with that account, how can I find out what it is and get rid of it? Since it also appears linked to my device there has to be a record of that account somewhere.

Thanks for any ideas.

B r i l l i a n t !

I could not figure out why the Photot Stream would sometimes work but mostly not. This fixed it!

When I bought my iPhone I had first set it up with its own id (as I am used doing with all my equipment) but that did not synch through iCloud. So I added a new account for all iCloud connections, which at first seemed to work ok.

After removing the new as well as the old Photostream on both my iPhone and my iPad, they now sync impeccably.

Thanks for helping me get rid of a very annoying "feature".

Very same problem on my iPad. I have a photo stream album which I cannot delete and which does not see to be associated with my iCloud account. Turning off photo stream has no effect. Tried deleting my account on my iPad but this does not work either and I cannot access or delete the photos via USB (tried that too). The other photo stream album works as expected and syncs between my iPhone and iPad (I don't have this problem on my iPhone, it just sees one photo stream album). Any ideas?

I have the exact same problem as well. I have only ever had exactly ONE AppleID, so it can't be that. I too, have tried disabling Photo Stream on both my iPhone and iPad and re-enabling them. Also tried resetting Photo Stream in-between via iCloud.com, but no dice, I still have 2 Photo Stream albums on my iPhone with Photo Stream enabled and the junk one still visible on the phone even if I disable Photo Stream altogether.

And just like that, I figured it out 🙂

Unticking the "Sync Photos" options in iTunes on my PC and doing a sync made the ghost "Photo Stream" finally dissapear from my iPhone. No idea how or why, especially considering that "My Photos" folder on the PC where iTunes was set to sync to/from doesn't actually contain any photos, but the mystery Photo Stream did.

How do I delete the photostream album after turning photostream off?
