why is my iPhone 4S camera crashing constantly?

I have the same problem! any idea what to do?

I know this problem, every second iphone 4 S crashes in foto/video-mode, I asked the Apple-Employees in the Munich and Augsburg-Apple-Store, they all don`t use the 4S and don`t know the problem. I think it`s the betatest by user, because it is not normal that 60 or 70 percent of all handson-iphone in Applestores crashes in Fotomode.

Mine did it yesterday.

I had to reset.

I also palm to use Camera+ instead of the internal camera

Same for me, open camera app, take picture and BANG picture not recorded and app crashes.

This happened to me as well. Went into the apple store and got a brand new phone. And the first time I used the camera it happened again!

Just a thought, is everyone who is having this problem using the Flashlight app?

I'm having the same issue. Camera has worked fine since I received the phone on 10/14/11. I've taken many pictures, used PhotoStream, etc. Just today (during the Halloween parade!) the camera started crashing. I've tried to reset the phone, etc., but nothing has worked yet. Has anyone had any luck with anything short of bringing the phone to an Apple store? I'm not going to have time to do that for a while, but I use the camera for work as well, so I'm in a bit of a bind.

Also, I now can't retrieve the photos I took which are in my camera roll prior to the crash scenario. I'm pretty worried that if I need to replace the phone, I'll never get those photos.

Update: Found this link in another thread, and it works just fine. I'm back up and running. It seems that one of the photo library metadata files gets corrupted, and if you simply delete it the library will rebuild from the existing photos. Simple, and no loss of data...

This worked for me as well. I used iExplorer and only deleted the Photo.sqlite file from the PhotoData folder. Camera Roll and Photo Stream rebuilt themselves after a few minutes. Thanks for the tip bryanfromnewpaltz.
