How can I use icloud with windows xp?

I want to use icloud on my Windows XP PC. Is there a chance apple may support XP? If not, are there other alternatives?

iPhone 3GS, Windows XP

You can hack iCloud control panel to work on Windows XP to give you synced access to Contacts, Calenders, Reminders and Bookmarks. It also can be used to set up your me.com mail.

I found a solution here, have written it up in clearer english and added details re IMAP support for me.com addresses here:

In summary:

Requirements:
iTunes 5.10
Unpacking program e.g. 7-Zip or WinRar
Orca MSI editor

The iCloud setup hack for Windows XP:

  1. DownloadiCloud Control Panel for Windows.
  2. Open iCloudSetup.exe file with WinRar or 7-Zip and extract.
  3. Navigate to and open the iCloud.msi or iCloud64.msi (for 64bit systems) with Orca.
  4. In the left table select LaunchCondition. Then change in the right table “VersionNT> = 600” to “VersionNT> = 200” and Save.
  5. Run modified iCloud.msi and install.
  6. Run iCloud Control Panel, located in the Windows Control Panel, and set up as you want.

Have fun!

The Icloud hack above works but then Photostream is whited out and cannot select or select options for Photostream - C'mon there has to be a fix for us unfortunate people with win xp pro?

The only thing not unselectable is 'Bookmarks with IE' !

So basically useless, I followed the instructions, unless I missed something?

Well it does work, but not sure how much it helps. You can't use any of the features in the control panel except the browser bookmark settings. I was most interested in getting mail onto my PC using Outlook Express and it is fairly easy to manually configure Outlook so you can get your mail. I don't even think a hack is necessary to do that.

I have XP as well, did as you mentioned, using 7-zip, Orca, and still my iCloud desktp is only allowing me to see just a few options, such as Mail with Outlook, Contacts with Outlook, Calendar and Tasks with Outlook, Bookmarks with IE, and Photstream is Grayed Out... This is frustrating for me, I cannot even access my iCloud mail, @me. I have all the setting on my iPhone 4S for iCloud on, why can I not see anything in the Desktop iCloud on my XP Pro PC? I am definitel not upgrading to Windows 7 or Vista just for iCloud. I also set your advice to

"In the left table select LaunchCondition. Then change in the right table “VersionNT> = 600” to “VersionNT> = 200” and Save."

What am I doing wrong?

I do see that automatically, in iTunes, both on my PCs, and iPhone, whatever I installed or purchased is showing up in iTunes automatically from the iPhone, which is something I don't understand. Where is that communication coming from?

I am new to the iPhone 4S, and new to anything "Apple" related. My PCs are working fantastic, I don't feel the need yet to buy a Mac or iPad if all of my PCs are running fine.

What do you suggest???
