internet recovery 3403F

I have accidently reformat my 2011 MacBook Air including the build in recovery. When I press command R on reboot, it tries to do an internet recovery but stop with an error -3403F error.

I have restalled once over the internet without a hitch. The internet connection is via the USB ethernet port to the Macbook Air.

How do I recover the Macbook Air to factory settings?

Dude,

I have solved the problem. Apparently, it is a network problem, not necessary due to bandwith or latency issues.

I lived in Singapore and my home ISP is with Singtel while my office uses another ISP, Starhub. The first time I do an internet restore in the office (with ISP Starhub) it went thru OK. When I tried to re-do again some days later at home, it gives me the error.

I brought it down to the Apple service centre and they did the internet recovery within an hour and return it back to me.

Why don't you try with another ISP or network connection or take it down to the Apple service center?

Tenjonight, it's apparently not Apple's fault. SingTel uses a transparent proxy that blocks ports 80 and 443; after all, why would any SingTel victims want to actually use the Internet? This is apparently a problem with both SingTel and StarHub and, at least until and unless the GLC telcos get their heads out of whatever orifice they're presently stuck in, we're FUBAR.

If the proxying were actually competent, things would be different… but competence is another bit that's become a literally foreign concept over the last decade or two.

I've got a ticket open with Apple now, and I'm sitting in front of a brand-new, top-of-the-line iMac my company bought that I can't use fully until and unless this is resolved. The situation would have to improve by several orders of magnitude to be merely "ridiculous", but that's the real Singapore Story, isn't it?
