iOS 5 updated 3GS battery dying

I updated to ios5 on my 3GS and now my battery is draining extremely fast. 5 hours of non use and the battery is down to 5%. What is wrong? How do I fix the battery draining?

Next step would be to disable any notifications which are not needed, and (the big one) disabling the time zone setting under location services. (settings, location services, system services, time zone setting) any other location services you don't need should also be turned off.

Last thing which could help is resetting your network settings, the rebooting. Warning, for some reason it deleted all my mailboxes after the reboot. No big issue, but warning none the less.

I turned notifications off on all but messages and also disabled the time zone services. I'll give that a try but so far so good. The battery has not drained since i did this. Time will tell. If this fixes the issue, I'll try and add one service at a time over a period of time and find out which one in particular, is doing the drain. I'll report that when I have more data. Thanks for your assistance.
