Why do 4S photos have colored stripes?

My hours old iPhone $S has produced six images with either stripes of areas of B&W splotches. The rest of the images and the movies in the session seem to be okay. I'd like to try to figure out what caused this to make sure that the same thing doesn't happen to pictures that might be precious (these we just test shots).
