(I'm sure I got an answer to this once before, but it's not in My Stuff, so here goes):
I want to tidy a huge Mail Inbox by moving a lot of easily postponable stuff to a Smart Mailbox. I've set up the SM by setting rules for the From field. Now it's populated with a load of emails. But they are also still in my Inbox!! How can I MOVE messages to the SM instead of COPY?

Smart Mailboxes are not mailboxes, they are a set of fiters that affect what you see in there, the mail itself never moved, or copied.

Mail>Preferences>Rules, define the criteria for the rule, define the destination, choose move or copy, it's quite simple.
So how do I set up a rule to MOVE things from my Inbox, other than via a Smart Mailbox? I don't want to do this manually.
Yeah "Smart" boxes are just pointers to mails of certain criteria, you need to create other real Mailboxes & make rules as Csound1 points out. 🙂
Will that dynamically move the emails from then on without me having to take further action? And will it move existing messages out of my Inbox?
