Airplay mirroring does not work, i can sellect apple tv but i cannot select mirroring, it does not show the option mirroring, button airplay i can select

I assume you have the iPad 2.

There isn't a special icon for mirroring. Double tap the home button, swipe the bottom panel, select the Airplay icon, select the Apple TV and mirroring should commence.

You have to be on iOS 5 for AirPlay Mirroring. Have you upgraded your iDevice to iOS 5?

I purchased an Apple TV from the Suburban Square store this afternoon for the sole purpose of using AirPlay Mirroring. As with the poster, I too do not find an AirPlay Mirroring option on the AirPlay icon; only apple TV and IPad.

I am very dissapointed. If I can't resolve this today I will return this latest apple purchase tomorrow.

I've got both an iPad (first generation) and an iPad 2 - the mirroring works only on the iPad 2.

I also had the same problem. After reading many suggestions on how to fix, I tried the one that seems to work for many people. I plugged my apple tv into my pc ( itunes) and it automatically asked if I would like to restore it and that it will download any updated software. I followed the instructions and when it was complete I tried it out and it worked perfectly. When Apple TV is plugged into your pc it does not need any power. Also you need to use a micro usb to connect it. Hope this will help!

There was a problem for a short while (see link below) but as of a few days ago you no longer have to do anything special to update the Apple TV2 since Apple released v4.4.2. All you need to do is go to Setttings > General > Update and it will automatically update to v4.2.2 from any earlier version.

Hi, was just wondering didu ever get ur mirroring part to work, I can stream my picture and music, but nothing else, cannot get the mirroring menu to come up, I did all the updating to the iPad and apple tv, still nothing work, did u ever get yours to work?

That's because mirroring only works on iPad 2 and iPhone 4S

I have iPad 2, I did everything, everything is updated, don't understand why I can't get the airplay mirroring menu
