Dictation not working?

On my 4s, Siri has never stopped working (although there are a few dead areas where she temporarily can't connect to the network), but dictation has not worked for about three days. I was using the microphone on all keyboard functions in any app or service: e-mail, text, entering an address in Waze, whatever. Suddenly, for several days now, the dictation will show the pink dots to show it is trying to translate, but then the dots will disappear as if nothing was attempted.

But Siri still works throughout this.

I recently shut down location services on several apps in order to try to conserve battery. I wonder if this is affecting dictation.

I turned Diagnostics & Usage back "On" and dictation works now. Hmm. Grrr.

Both Siri and dictation were down for me from the night of Nov 3 to the afternoon of Nov 4. They were both down for all purposes. Rebooting didn't help. I didn't do anything but wait for it to come back on its own.

Siri has been down for me today more than it has been working. I'm very disappointed that voice dictation is linked to Siri. I don't use Siri much, but I sure do like using voice dictation. Linking the two was not a wise decision.

I do not use Siri often but enjoy the dictation feature. Recently i have tried to use dictation when sending a text message and it did not work. It acted like it was thinking and was going to write what i said but it showed up blank. I have now tried to use SIRI and it is not working properly. When i ask SIRI to send a text it asks who to send it to, when i reply with a name it then attempts to call someone - not even the person i want to send the text too. can anyone HELP!! i have no idea how to fix this, its very frustrating.

Dictation stopped working again today. In am in Southern California. First time it has failed since Nov. 5.

Siri is working on my phone for asking questions, but not for dictation. I'm in San Francisco. Is anyone else having this issue right now?

I'm getting the same issue here in Detroit area. It's 5pm eastern, Siri is working fine, but dictation is not.

Same issue here in Cincinnati 5:30PM EST - Siri is getting tired of me asking it how to fix my dictation.

Dictation has been down for about a day for me. Columbus, OH. Siri works fine. Very frustrating; I use dictation a lot.

I am having the same exact problem -- it is quite frustrating. I even backed up the phone, and even went through the full restore. I have only had the phone 10 days, but I have become quite dependent on the Siri voice texting and note taking functions. As of an hour ago, I have switched back to using the Dragon dictation app. I just wish it could work right through the SMS prog on the iPhone.

Down in the lower penninsula of Michigan as well. Siri works, dictation does not... :-(

I just now downloaded VLingo, a free dictation app, and it is working well -- it even integrates with SMS and Phone Dialing. I think I will stay switched until Apple gets its act together.

Yes...started acting up on my phone and my wife's phone this afternoon. Same exact symptoms as mentioned earlier. N/E Ohio.
