Safari Malware

I accidently typed in www.gmil.com instead of gmail and have been unable to direct away from this website since. Have to Force Quit safari, and whenever it opens it returns to a false website controlling safari. I cannot access safari preferences. I've already done a hard shut down, re-download Safari 5.1.1, and download ClamXav (no virus found). Anyone familiar with this one?

Thanks for the advice Bee, I tried that one too, but it continued to redirect to false site. I ended up giving in and calling Apple Care once I reached my wits end. We systematically went through the plug in files in the Internet Plugin folder of the hard drive library. The file causing the trouble had been named "Flash Player plug in".
