i see same issue, beyond that the old user of this phone (was given to me) has his notifications still show up and i cant do anything about it.

i think i found a security flaw somewhere, not sure who is at fault, but it would be nice to be able to actually delete facebook -files don't seem to delte - there seems to be some type of cookie or something stuck in this phone.

The notification center options just determine whether or not they show up on the notifications list (when you drag the top of the screen down). Apps can still get push updates even without being listed in the notifications list.

Go to Settings > Notifications and scroll down to the Facebook app and select it. You should select "None" for the alert style, then down at the bottom disable all the options down there as well (e.g. Badge Icon).

Sometimes apps can have other options within the Settings menu. Go to Settings and scroll down to see if Facebook has its own settings (I don't use FB, but I have other apps such as iBook that has separate settings).

@aesselstein: Try opening the Facebook app and look for options to log out. If there aren't any, it may be listed in Settings (see paragraph above).

What types of notification? SMS? Facebook has this in Mobile Settings: "[ ]Allow friends to text me from Facebook." If you are receiving text messages from "friends" you can uncheck this one or remove the number all together.

If this is the case and the phone number was used by someone else, you can go into your Facebook's Mobile Settings to "activate" this number to yourself, then you may deactivate the number. Facebook has no knowledge of ownership transfer unless you do this.
