TV Out option hide & seek

Is this iOS 5 feature ? I can see 'TV Out' option only when supported accesory is connected. I use iPhone in my car Media Snap-in adapter. Before iOS 5, the videos play in correct aspect ration. But in iOS 5, this option appears in 'General' only when supported cable is connected or only when it is placed in the car's Media Snap-in adapter and 'Anamorphic' option is turned off by default. Is there any way to set this to on by default ?
