Time machine not backing up iPhoto

It seems Time Machine isn't backing up my iPhoto pics. It's not excluded in the TM preferences and it's not open. Thoughts?

I guess It's just because I can't see the pictures in TM and I assume I could as I see the documents. So, my bad for assuming I suppose. I don't have a lot of Mac knowledge, I'm sure I'm not using all the features I could. I just want all my pics off my hard drive and have stored them with a third party 'cloud' and am trying to save to the external HD as well.

I just read in another forum that I need to actually either be plugged into the external HD and go into iPhoto via TM and I should be able to see them, or go into TM to the date of the back up and "Restore" the library.

So, my question is, how can I be sure it worked? Are my pics backed up?

Thank you.

Your question had me wondering too and so I checked my Time Machine and couldn't see where any photos were. I then pulled out a book I got when I first got my mac ( Its called The Missing Manual. I got it used from Amazon) anyway, if you open iPhoto, go to File then Browse Backups. It will show you the photos that have been backed up and are available for recovery. I hadn't paid much attention to that before and am glad I discovered it now, rather than when I am in a panic over a lost or misplaced photo. Hope this helps you find what you are looking for.
