Lyrics won't sync

I just bought some new songs and put lyrics for them on iTunes. But when I sync it to my iPod Touch the lyrics don't show on the songs. Songs that I added lyrics to with the previous version of iTunes are not affected and are still on those songs. Is there something wrong , and/or is there anything I can do to fix it?

2017, six years later and this is still an issue. The answer below, deleting the song and putting it back is not a viable solution, because to do that I have to delete the lyrics along with the song, then put the song back. It's crazy that this is seen as a viable solution. I've got like 100 songs with lyrics, and I'm going to delete them and put them all back because itunes hasn't been able to fix this bug in six years?

Anyway, six years running, this bug is still a bug.

I am having the same issue. I have 10.7, iPhone 4S, and the latest itunes version. I added lyrics to purchased iTunes songs. They synced at first and I have since updated/amened them and the changes have not synced to the iPhone.

I've tried restarting the Mac, restarting iPhone, clearing all playlists off iPhone, clearing the lyrics and adding them back. The first set of lyrics still remains on the phone. (Even after I clear the songs and add them back to the iPhone.)

This has to be some sort of bug in either iOS5 or iTunes. I've never had an issue like this before.

Yup. Started with iOS5. I had the problem on my 3GS and now my 4S. I have tried everything--deleting songs then re-adding, wiping the lyrics, manually syncing music. This worked fine under iOS 4.x. I assume a complete reset of the phone would work, but I'm not interested in waiting more than an hour to reload everything onto my iPhone just to correct lyrics.

Something with Apple's new sync methodology is somehow storing old metadata on the device and not getting updates (even through deletion of the parent object).

Apple, please fix!

What worked for me --- lyrics edited in iTunes (10.5.1, 10.5.2) does not sync to iPhone (5.0.1):

  • Do a regular sync (which creates a backup file, you can see it happening in the progress window, check the timestamp in iTunes preferences)
  • Restore the iphone to it's latest version (in this case 5.0.1, I reused the original file I downloaded a while back)
  • When prompted to set up a new phone or restore from backup, choose restore from backup.
  • Your settings (and music) are *pushed* from iTunes back onto the iPhone.

This way, you don't have to use other methods like deleting all the songs from your iTunes library, syncing, and re-adding them back -- which will reset your play counts, skip counts, etc.

Downside: reset, and resync time.

Hope that helps.

I suffered the same and did the same trying to remedy the no-sync lyrics without success. To make matter worst: Sound Check does not work with the 4S although I have the correct setting (it work on iTunes). To some people the lyric/ sounc check problem is no big deal, but we are supposed to have the "perfect phone". Despite the many pleas to Apple to fix it, I suspect that Apple is not even aware of this problem (or we've been ignored).
